My Life Celebrations!

Some might say my celebrations were brought by a stork. Some might say they arrived via amazing staff at the Misericordia Hospital. This week we celebrated a one month milestone of the birth of our twin boys. As you can see by the photo, we have two healthy handsome men to love on and hold. I would like to add how wonderful all staff were and how special the NICU nurses are!

I get to soak in the new baby smell, admire tiny toes, and absorb little snuggles all day every day; between the chaos of feedings and diaper changes.

My Work Celebrations!

It has been 5 years since I completed the Modules at Erickson Business Centre and became a Life Coach. I have coached a variety of clients, all looking to achieve various goals but with the common ground of wanting better for themselves.

Your FRESH Start!

Fresh dew cleanses the Earth and feeds it’s soul in the morning just as we need to nourish our beings daily ~ Tara Leske

I love the smell of rain, the sight of dew in the morning, and green grass nourished by nature!
It seems we often get caught up in various things in our lives and start to make mountains out of molehills. Have you ever done that? I certainly have.

In fact, let’s get personal and put it into perspective. To say I used to overreact is an understatement. I am such an emotional being that everything seemed to be drama. In fact, my parents one gifted me the book “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff and It’s All Small Stuff” by Richard Carlson.

Over the years I have learned a lot about myself and a lot about my emotions. This has helped me to calm my reactions down. Thinking more. Rationalizing them more. Loving myself more.

I would like to share this with you.

Begin Every Day With a Fresh Start

Find a way to focus on YOU FIRST every morning

When we think of the morning dew. The sunlight allowing it to glimmer on a grass blade. How green the grass looks!

Feel fresh and alive like that grass blade. Wake up in the morning and create a routine that nourishes you first!  If you are nourished you can be a better spouse, parent, colleague… whatever your roles are for the day. You will start with a better attitude and that creates a happier overall atmosphere.

What is your current morning routine? Document it. Journal, photos, or video. How many times does your alarm go off? What happens when you get out of bed? What do you eat for breakfast? When do you eat it? Do you make any time for yourself to reflect, plan, or meditate?

Do better:

After realizing your daily routine (including weekends) start looking at what parts of that routine are necessary and what parts can be improved on. How can you slow down and not be rushing? If you get up earlier and do something calming for yourself will you be more calm when getting the kids out the door. Imagine how your business meetings will proceed when you walk in with a clearer head and positive attitude!

Keep the Positive Attitude Through the Day

Working on positivity has a huge impact on our lives. People are more productive and feel more accomplished when they hold on to a positive energy through the day.

Staying Positive

Part of my emotional roadblock to positivity is that I enjoy being a helper and this can lead to me being affected by other people’s stresses. I continue to be coached on a weekly basis to stay focused and realize my best features and I love coaching people because it is positively focused direction.

I can certainly help you weekly but for now, let’s start with a few things you can do when you feel negativity creeping in:

  1. Acknowledge it – Knowing it is there allows you to properly deal with it
  2. See if it is yours to own – If it is due to someone else’s reaction, behaviour, or problem realize that and LET IT GO, it isn’t yours to hold on to. If it is something that ‘belongs’ to you then move on to further steps.
  3. Take action to resolve it – Apologize or deal with it by action if needed. If it is an emotion then figure out how to avoid this in the future.
  4. Move to the POSITIVE – What good is holding on to this doing for you? Have you apologized or made a plan to improve next time? If so, there is no purpose to hold onto the negativity that surrounds you.
  5. JOIN OUR PROGRAM! – We have teamed up with an amazing online training to offer a  program that helps to stay positive and create happiness on a routine basis. To cleanse yourself of negativity and focus on what will make you a better you!

There are two ways to link arms with Coach Tara.

~  First, you can join our group to cleanse the negativity and make a better you. This online program is 7 days long, is coach supported, and begins in June. Contact Us to let us know you are interested.

Your Hero is Within

Everyone is necessarily the hero of his own life story ~ John Barth

Find The Hero Within You

Our lives can be compared to a lifelong storybook. We have so many tales from the past and many unwritten pages for the future. We each get the opportunity to fill in those pages and create our own stories in life. We are the main character, the hero in our lives. Why do we follow in other people’s shadows? Why do we live our lives only to get by? Change your story… create a journey… be the hero again!

What will your story look like? Is it going to be a book on financial success, motivational, romance, or another type? Perhaps each success will be another chapter leading to the next success. Perhaps the many successes will be interwoven like a mystery novel.

Our story began at birth, some would even say before birth but that isn’t our main focus today. From birth until now we ave experienced many different things. Some good, some not so good. We cannot change the past. It happened. We may not have had much control over it but we definitely have say in what will happen and can make our future story amazing.

How? We learn who we are right now and what we want from life.

I invite you to grab a piece of paper and a pen. As you think through the upcoming questions, answer as truthfully and honestly.

Become A Hero in Your Story

STEP 1 – Who are you?

Who are you right now? What are you doing right? What would you like to achieve? What are your goals and dreams; 3 months from now, 1 year from now, 5 years from now?

Look at who you are now and what you want to achieve to get a general idea of what you want from life. This is a great starting point. You are creating the OUTLINE of your life. Bullet points and highlights are our friend in this starting zone. We are looking for brainstorming of small and big dreams. Details and perfection are not part of this step.

At the end of this step you should be able to look at the list and find 1 to 3 things that you would really like to achieve within the next few months. That is a great place to focus. It is time to put on your cape, stand a little taller, and prepare yourself for the hero you are about to become!

STEP 2 – Look Deeper

If you had all of the essentials, what would that end result really look like to you? If you could change something about your personality to support getting you there, what would it be?

There is a point where you will look at your current and future state and say you are on track. If you are honest with yourself, will you find there are parts of your life that could be even better. Maybe it is to become more confident, to have more quality time with family, to be happier with what you have, the list goes on. Looking deeper will provide you with more DETAIL to add to your outline.

If you consider how obtaining your goals will affect you AND those around you the determination to achieve them will be even more powerful. This is the moment that you begin to find your superhero strength beginning to shine.

STEP 3 – Take Action

You know what you want to achieve, now think of what you need to do to get there. Plan the steps that you need to take. Think of the things you need to do as well as the obstacles that may come up and how you will overcome them.

You have your outline and details, now take ACTION. This is the time you get to rescue YOURSELF. Keep the cape on, posture straight, and determination strong. Begin to make your way toward your end goals.

Create Your Story

Your Outline, Details, and Action will naturally create the story of your life. It is your responsibility to do the best for yourself. Follow through with your actions and find ways to amplify your results.

If you are looking to create goals, find solutions, overcome obstacles, create accountability; solution focused coaching might help you to create your ability and your story.  Create Ability Coaching assists you to the solutions that will be the most meaningful to you.

Live Life Comfortably

One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I’ll never know. ~ Groucho Marx

Being Comfortable – What Does That Mean To You?

As I sit here sipping coffee #4 (plus additive) I look around to see:

  1. a happy toddler
  2. a clean house (momentarily – see #1)
  3. my terrible reflection

I love it because I have learned to allow myself the comfort to just be. To look around and change the things in my life so I can be the person I want and love in myself.

My Terrible Reflection

Now let me clarify. My reflection is that of a frumpy and comfy mom. It is nearly 3:30, the teenager has friends coming over in half an hour and I am in pajama pants, a baggy sweatshirt, no makeup, unbrushed hair… and if I am to be honest my teeth could use a scrub.

There is rarely a day when I stay in and get to just be. Today is the day. If a visitor pops by this is what they get and they better be as okay with it as I am. My happy toddler is fed. My to-do list is a mile long. My concerns have been tossed aside.

What can you do to relax a little?

Doesn’t it seem like there is always something else to do or somewhere to be? How do you unwind in a healthy way?

I find that being comfortable with the choices I make plays a big factor in my overall happiness. I accept and choose to stay in my pajamas today because I believe kids shouldn’t get to have all the fun! I also feel like having wind-down time is healthy for our emotional needs.

Think About it?

When was the last time… that you felt completely relaxed and happy just being?

What did you truly enjoy… about that moment in time?

Where were you… and what was it about your surroundings that added to the experience?

Who was around supporting you… to be the best you possible?

How… can you recreate that experience on a regular basis?

You have slowed down and looked at what has worked for you to get some insight on how to find that comfort again. Celebrate any other learning that you have found in the process. This process will become even more powerful if you choose to do create the comfort on a regular basis.

If you do, you will find that you:

  • Become more confident
  • Spread happiness
  • Honour yourself
  • Find your importance

What Do You Do For Yourself?

Love yourself. It is important to stay positive because beauty comes from the inside out. ~ Jenn Proske

Happy Valentine’s Day!

A day singles loathe and couples gush.

What do you do to show love for yourself?

There is a tendency for singles to hate Valentine’s Day and couples to have a love/hate relationship with it depending on their own relationship. When we think of Valentine’s Day we think of red hearts, red roses, red wine, candles.

We imagine couples dancing and romancing while the lonely hearts are sitting at the bar drinking away their sorrows. Why is this when we are in a world constantly being told to love ourselves first. Once we like who we are we can begin to be authentic and share our love for others in a better way. Our happiness will just spill out of us.

Make Valentine’s Day Your Day

Honour yourself. Be kind. Be authentic. Do something special to recognize the wonderful person that you are.

We have all been through struggles. We’ve lost people, been sick, struggled with work. We have experienced sadness and consequences but we have made it through. Through the lowest of the lows we have picked ourselves up, dusted off, and moved on with our lives.

Sometimes we get through it on our own and sometimes we need someone to lean on; a parent, friend, teacher…

Hiring a coach can help you become more confident and love yourself more than you already do by creating impact in your life and I am here for you if you choose to do that.

For Now – Join me in a little exercise:

Find a Quiet Space

Find yourself a quiet space. A space where you can sit in peace. Perhaps when the kids are napping, while relaxing in the tub, or even on a work break. Do your best to set aside 20-30 minutes to really be alone with no distractions.

Clear Your Head

Once you have found that space take a few deep breaths. Close your eyes if it feels comfortable to you. Breathe again. Think about placing all thoughts and worries on a shelf. They will be there for you once this time is over. Right now think only of the stillness around you. Be calm and relaxed.

Think of a Happy Memory

Focus on a time that you were truly happy; it could have been earlier today or when you were 5 years old. A time when life seemed easy and things were just going your way. When you were happy and confident in who you were and the life you built around you.

Go Deeper

Once you have that scenario in mind, consider why that memory is one of your happiest. Pick out one or two things about your personality or beliefs that made that moment even more significant. What were those things?

Begin to consider if you use these qualities or beliefs to empower your daily life now. What made them significant then? What is important to you now? How can you use/bring these reflections into your daily life?

Show Love For Yourself

You have slowed down and looked within. Celebrate any learning that you have found in the process. This process will become even more powerful if you choose to do it on a regular basis.

If you do, you will find that you:

  • Become more confident
  • Spread happiness
  • Honour yourself
  • Find your importance

Whether coupled up or not on Valentine’s Day it is important to LOVE YOURSELF. You will be amazed by the personal growth you will experience when you are happy with who you are and invested in who you will become.

Celebrate You by Doing Something Meaningful to Your Emotional/Physical/Spiritual Health. Possible ideas: a bubble bath, an evening out, family storytime, etc.

What will you do to Celebrate You?
